It all begins and ends in your mind. What you give power to, has power over you. If you allow it.

Vision boards have been a part of my life since I was a teenager. The act of cutting, pasting and being organically inspired by words has always appealed to me.  Also the act of dreaming and looking forward to the what could be’s of a new year is exciting and refreshing

There is no right or wrong way to make a vision board, it just has to speak to you, make your heart happy, look forward, push your limits an be inspirational.

This years board feels different to me though. This year I don’t feel like I am starting from the beginning yet again. In many of my previous vision boards I have always allocated a health/fitness/weight loss section. This year I purposely left it out.  I actually achieved that goal last year and I have maintained it.  Don’t get me wrong there are still health and fitness goals I have for 2018 but I didn’t want my vision board to be focused on that piece as that has been a HUGE focus for many years. Another huge section that riddled my prior boards was my mental health. A section of all the self help/self care/daily to do’s of what i needed to do to get back to a healthy happy place. This year I’m there! This has been the best winter of my adult life. I have nary a depressive or anxious symptom, I feel happy, healthy and content. This all excites me so much.  This year I am starting with new dreams and intentions, I am building on what I have already achieved, not starting back at square one yet again.  This gives me renewed focus and excitement about what I can actually achieve this year. Nothing seems impossible and this is coming from a woman who at one point in her life felt like getting out of bed was impossible.  I feel like I have finally made it somewhere in this complicated, confusion called life.  That I am actually starting to become the woman I am meant to be and I am so very proud of that.

My vision for the new year includes the following areas of focus:

  • success
  • love
  • create
  • my tribe
  • life work
  • knowledge
  • family
  • abundance
  • core me (the centre heart)

This year I decided to paint my background I wanted it as custom and personal as I am. I wanted to ooze my energy and feel like positive vibes were emanating from it.  So many times I did a vision board it felt like a laundry list of all the things I failed at the previous year. NO more of that! I will grow, expand and increase my joy, awareness and vibrational flow this year.

My biggest tip’s to doing a vision board would be to make your sections first then flip through different magazines and just cut out words or sentences that you are drawn to. Don’t overthink it. Place your words in sections but don’t glue right away. You may want to change the section or realize after you have looked at it for a while it doesn’t actually fit. Spend a couple of days with you vision board, really put some thought into it.

This process has become a staple to my new years celebrations.

Now with this piece of my inspiration done, I will sit with this board on new years eve and make a more detailed intentions list that encompass these categories. More tangible to do’s for the year that will get me to my goals.

I hope this inspires you to do something creative heading into the new year. Find out what suits you and put it on paper, canvas or whatever! Make it real, dream, make wishes, send out vibrations into the world to let the universe know whats up and where you want to go in 2018.
